Pastor Elgin D. Orton was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio to Deacon Matthew and Lenora Orton. While in his mother’s womb, a prophecy came forth that he would be a preacher who would affect many lives. For anyone who comes into contact with Pastor Orton, the manifestation of this prophecy is evident. Pastor Orton accepted Christ at a very early age and was called to preach at the age of seven, under the leadership of his grandfather the late Rev. James W. Mitchell.

During his adolescence, Pastor Orton faced many challenges stemming from his fear of having such a “heavy” call placed on his life at an early age. As a result, he made a decision to give in to peer pressure and explore what he thought his commitment to God kept him from. During the summer of 1996, Pastor Orton decided to rededicate his life to God and was baptized in the Holy Ghost. It was at this point that Pastor Orton experienced a new passion for the things of God.

In August of 1999, Pastor Orton felt impressed to undergo formal biblical training at World Harvest Bible College, where televangelist Pastor Rod Parsley is the president. After graduating with a degree in Arts in Religion, Pastor Orton wanted to further his ministerial education/training. Therefore, he attended the Young Preachers Institute (YPI) in Columbus, Ohio under the capable headship of Bishop Brian K. Williams.

Pastor Orton is currently the senior pastor of the The City Of Zion Church located on the east side of Columbus, Ohio. Since becoming the under shepherd of this great ministry, the Lord has increased the membership from a faithful 20 to over 400. At no time is Pastor Orton confused about where his blessings have come from. As a servant of God, he acknowledges that it has all come from God! Pastor Orton truly is a man of God called for such a time as this. Those who have been blessed by his ministry thus far can truly attest that whenever he opens his mouth, God shows up!
